FPI launches ‘Music in the EU 2026’ report highlighting excellence of Europe’s music sector and calls for effective implementation of existing rules to support future growth
IFPI's new 'Music in the EU 2026' report shows EU recorded music revenues reached €6.0 billion in 2025, up 5.1% and representing 21.3% of the global market. Nine of the world's Top 20 markets are in the EU, and domestic artists performed 53.5% of year-end Top 10 tracks. Streaming drives around 66% of revenues, yet with only 27% paid subscriber penetration (vs. 54% in the US), significant growth potential remains. Backed by US$9.3 billion in global label investment in A&R and marketing, IFPI calls on policymakers to focus on effective enforcement of existing rules, responsible AI innovation with meaningful transparency, and protecting creators' rights.
